Phase Three begins... The Drywalling

Today we will start on the ceiling. I am going to buy a rotary tool at Lowes to cut out the vent, outlet, and switch openings before I hang the sheets. I think I will get the attachment that is sort of like a router but actually holds the drill a certain distance from the plane of the sheet, so that my holes are not too deep (if I have to cut near electric).

Also need to buy a ceiling vent to put up in the soon-to-be-new ceiling vent hole which is actually the bottom of the bathroom vent. I think building code says that if the basement room that I am building is ever used as a bedroom, then it has to have ventilation. Then again, it also needs an egress window, and I sure as heck am not putting one of those in (digging up the foundation and everything, no way!).

Plans for today:

  1. move the drywall into 1/2" and 5/8" groups.
  2. install half of the drywall ceiling, or as much as possible.
